The ledges are a really cool feature of this site and are fun to explore. Two tent sites are near the picnic table, and another flat site is up the hill. Nice beach for swimming. The site has a decent grade so you will need to haul gear a bit to setup.

We also really loved Ledges! Agree that the grade is steep but perhaps the site has been upgraded as there were two built out tent sites in addition to one up a 30 foot vertical climb that is a schlep but it’s spectacular if you have the will. It’s a great swim spot with lots of good hammock sites. The grace of the hill to get your stuff up is definitely the toughest part of the site but it only took us about 15 minutes to get everything up and organized. It’s a great pick if you’re beat after Chase rapids and a windy day on Umsaskis.
Ah, I didn’t see the level area up the hill. With the cool geology, good tent sites and great swimming, sounds like a 4. Schlepping in the Allagash just comes with the adventure!
I’d definitely agree with a four – in my opinion the only detractor is the climb but the rest of the experience was lovely!!
Another great sunset photo at Ledges!
