The Allagash Wilderness Waterway is a 92 mile north-flowing waterway in the remote forests of northern Maine. For paddlers, it is a remarkable destination of lakes, rivers, wildlife, historic sites and well maintained campsites. The waterway has been protected by the State of Maine since 1966. In 1970 it became a federally protected wild river and part of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System.

This site is a guide to the Allagash Wilderness Waterway, built from the experiences of the author and continually enriched by the paddlers who travel it. As members share new experiences and knowledge, the guide continues to grow and improve.
