Spacious and flat site with plenty of room for tents, framed from behind with a “positively magical forest”. Large gravel beach for swimming and beautiful views of the river.

This is probably the site we disagreed most from you on! It was our favorite site of the entire trip and we had such a lovely time sitting on the beach with our feet in the water. It was spacious and flat with plenty of room for tents and the forested area behind the site was positively magical. You get a beautiful view of the river and it left nothing to be desired for us – we all voted 5/5!!
Wow. Thank you for that. To be honest, I didn’t camp here. Just stopped quickly to look around and take some pictures. I am going to bump it to a 4 and add some of your observations. I don’t have the temerity right now to make it a 5 knowing how ABSOLUTELY gorgeous scoffield point is (which is a 5, in my mind). Next trip down the river I will be sure to spend more time here!
Totally hear you on that – I agree compared to Scoffield it’s a 4, it doesn’t perhaps have the real OOMPH factor to bump it to a 5 and we were also giddy to find it after croque brook 😂. 4 is probably the right spot for it but I’d totally recommend spending time there on your next journey, it was a lovely place for our rest day.
This is one of our top ten favorite campsites. We always stay here if its free.
It gives ample opportunity for swimming, and even has a little bit of an amusement park vibe if no one is up in the south campsite. Many of our guests have utilise the walking trail from one campsite to the other, to go up top and swim, or float down to our campsite. They had an absolute blast doing this. It can consume hours and hours of afternoon time.
The opportunities to collect fast moving water for filtration is awesome right off the point downstream of the campsite.
The woods are just magical here. Several places to put tents, we had 8 tents set up here on one trip, and there was room for a few more. We had several wild rabbits running around, at night giving us entertainment. I love how the fire pit is set up. Is facing away from the picnic table which gives ample opportunity for guests or other peddlers to still sit around the fire and not be crowded around the picnic table.
